Eddie Howe - Our generations Brian Clough

Eddie Howe - Our generations Brian Clough

Listening to the Big Interview podcast with Eddie Howe made me wonder; is Eddie Howe the Brian Clough of our times?

Let’s face it, there are some striking similarities, each had a solid working class and loving family upbringing; as ex-players both became managers around their 30th birthday, supported by a strong-willed No 2’s in Peter Taylor and Jason TIndall.

Listening to Howe talk about the importance of talking and listening to players, explaining his views and what he expects of them, made think of Clough.

So here’s a weekend question. If you had to build a team from the transfer window deals, who would make your starting 11?

Yesterday’s record breaking, closing of the transfer window, reflects the impact of this mammoth deal. The staggering summer spending spree on player transfers surpassed £1.165bn, up from £870bn in the same period last year, dwarfing the original 2003/04 transfer window spend of £215m. It’s also double the nearest international league rival, Serie A, and exceeds the combined transfer spending of Budesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1.
